Paradise Greens and Turf Co. partners with the 100 Club of Arizona to honor fallen Officer Travis Murphy. The 100 Club of Arizona is an organization dedicated to supporting families of public safety officers and fire fighters when tragedy strikes. Officer Travis Murphy was mortally wounded in the line of duty Wednesday, May 26, 2010 when he and his partner responded to a call regarding a hit-and-run incident in the area of 19th Avenue and Fairmount. During a search for a suspect in the area, Officer Murphy encountered the suspect and received several gunshot wounds. Other officers immediately placed him in a patrol car and took him to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds and tragically died.
Officer Murphy served with the Phoenix Police Department for four and a half years. He is survived by his wife, 2-year-old daughter, 2-week-old son, parents, step-brother, and a large extended family. Paradise Greens donated the family’s beautiful, new, maintenance-free, artificial lawn on August 20th 2010 to Officer Murphy’s family during 100 Club of Arizona’s renovation of the family home. Charlie Ferer, President of Paradise Greens, stated “we are privileged to assist the Murphy family and are honored in supporting the families of our fallen officers who have served and protected us through the 100 Club.”
The Murphy Family is asking that all donations be made to the 100 Club in Travis’ honor.
A memorial fund for his children has been set up in his name at Wells Fargo Bank.
